I found beads my accident.
It was 1997 and we were empty nesters and lived in Las Vegas. I wanted a hobby . I was in my husband's office and his administrator was having a frustrating day. She said "I need to quit this job and go string beaded jewelry on the beach"
I was bored... I looked up beaded jewelry online and up popped a bead store in San Diego. Umm Las Vegas is just 4 hours from San Diego. Or just an hour by plane. That’s where I discovered The Shepherdess, a fantastic bead store (I think it’s closed now - things change!). It’s where I bought seed beads to make a necklace because I saw a necklace there that I thought was fantastic. And it’s where I took a ton of classes as I delved into learning anything I could about jewelry making.
My first beading project…… a lariat necklace became my signature style.
