Seed Beading….

Tucson Sunset Bracelet

I recently had some eye surgery and I was unable to work at the torch for about 6 weeks; so I picked up my seed beads and a copy of Kate McKinnon’s book  Contemporary Geometric Beadwork.  I became obsessed and have made several bracelets so far.  But this one is definitely my favorite so far.  It’s made in 5 panels inspired by a bracelet designed by Barbara Briggs.  My panels depict several versions of the wonderful Arizona sunsets that we get here – even including a monsoon sunset from this summer.  One of the things that I love in each sunset photo is the saguaro cactus in shadow.  Can you see it in my bracelet?  I had a lot of fun designing this bracelet and am really happy it’s finally finished.  And I got cleared to go back to the torch so I really need to get busy making some beads.

Monday Morning Jewelry Inspiration – the Wrap Bracelet

I love the look of multiple bracelets.  And Chan Luu has certainly made the wrap bracelet very popular.  So you get the look of multiples but it’s really just one bracelet.  Here is my new version of a wrap bracelet.  It’s in a festive holiday palette of silver and gold with a hand made sterling button, two of my lampworked beads,  some lovely glass trade beads, and some gray and gold seed beads… as well as silk wraps and macrame techniques and the laddering made famous in the Chan Luu bracelets. – all on  silver leather.
